How to Handle Sunburns
By Valerie
- Take a cold bath or use ice blocks to soothe your skin.
- Exfoliate with a gentle scrub.
- Allow your skin to air dry. Don’t use a towel.
- Use a moisturizer to restore moisture to your skin, or
- Use honey/aloe vera because of their healing and moisturizing properties, let it stay for 20-30 mins before rinsing
- Use cocoa butter or shea butter at night to restore and rejuvenate your skin
- Staying moisturized as the sun dries up your skin, which would make it prone to burning
- Using good sunscreen that is suitable for your skin
- Drinking enough water to stay hydrated
- Wearing protective clothing (clothes that cover your arms and legs)
- Using an umbrella when under the sun
- Spending less time under the sun
- Reapplying your sunscreen every two hours when outside
- Carrying a small bottle of sunscreen in your bag for re-application when outside
