Curating a Self-Care Routine for Busy Women in 5 Simple Steps

Self-care for busy women

Curating a self-care routine that caters to your needs can be tough especially with how fast paced the world is getting. As hard as it may seem to curate, it is very important to put it in place if you want to be optimal at your workplace and deliver on your work.

To curate a good self-care routine, there are some factors you have to consider:

  • Your Capabilities: As someone who has to manage her earnings, you can’t afford to go get some luxury in the name of selfcare. It’s best to make sure the thing you’re trying to do for yourself is within your means and not something that will put you in debt or at risk. Selfcare should not be harmful to you.
  • Know that self-care is not selfish: Do not attach selfcare to doing this that may hurt others or affect your work.

Here are some ways you can curate a simple self-care routine as a busy woman.

  1. Highlight your needs: Our needs differ, so do our capabilities. Start by identifying the things you actually need, and how it will work for your benefit. This could be from having a me-time, reaching out to family, and taking time out with friends or engaging in great physical/extracurricular activities.
  2. Assign specific time to your self-care: Have time blocks in your schedule that are dedicated to your self-care. This can be activities you do before you sleep, and immediately after you wake up, or blocking out certain times in your weekends where you are on ‘Do not disturb’.
  3. Keep It Simple: Selfcare does not mean you have to take a trip to the most expensive Island, or buy a new Birkin bag. Activities as little as taking a walk, sleeping, listening to your favorite podcasts and watching a movie are great forms of self care.
  4. Incorporate Habits into your routine: Have simple habits like: lighting scented candles, playing a podcast, making warm clove/cinnamon tea that uplifts your mood. These habits will put you in a good mental space.
  5. Be Consistent: Selfcare is gradual, Selfcare is everyday, and you should not try to just block out specific days for it. You have to ensure that you put these habits in your daily routine.
