Successful women prioritise morning routines in their everyday lives. These routines have a boosting effect, especially on their mental dexterity; as a result, they are able to handle unexplained challenges that may arise in the day.

But really, if you ask me, there are no one-size-fits-all morning routines that you must stringently follow to be successful. But it has been discovered that habitually doing what successful people do, exposes you to a high probability of success, too.

In Brian Tracy’s book, No Excuses, he rightfully said:

You succeed when you do what other successful people do, over and over, until these behaviors become a habit. Likewise, you fail if you don’t do what successful people do.

In all, embrace your own uniqueness and personalities as you follow the morning routines of successful women and stick to what works for you. It might just be two or three that set you on the path to success!

What are morning routines?

Morning routines are the set of activities or habits individuals engage in, to set a positive tone for the day and prepare themselves mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. A morning routine helps you control the day and not the other way round.

A good number of successful women would swear that it keeps them alert and productive throughout the day.
Most begin their routine at night by having an early nightcap, so that they are perked up in the morning. Makes sense.

So, here are some morning routines of successful women:

1. Stirring early

I’m sure you’ve heard of the early bird getting the worm. This arguably rings true for successful women. The body is regulated by our circadian rhythms—our body’s internal clock, which works with light and darkness. Once the retina perceives light, it signals our biological master clock to suppress melatonin and cause wakefulness. That’s why we are naturally programmed to be more alert during the morning hours and sleepy at night.

Most successful women stir and start the day early. It keeps them highly organised and they are able to get some uninterrupted ‘me’ time without distractions. This morning routine is usually in default mode for working mums with young kids.

2. Staying off social media

Most successful women also stay clear of social media and checking mails till mid-morning or mid-day. Whether we acknowledge it or not, social media is a distraction. So, we need to apportion time to it. If we don’t, it can eat up valuable time each day.

3. Soulful meditation and prayers

Breathe, breathe and breathe deeply. The practise of meditation and prayers opens up the mind, soul and spirit. They can increase mental clarity, spiritual alertness and cause one to have a positive mindset. Even when hiccups show up in the day, successful women are better composed to manage them.

4. Savouring a heathy breakfast

Yes, breakfast is often referred to as the most important meal of the day—and not just for kids, too. It provides energy and promotes better concentration. And most successful women embrace this breakfast routine. “But I’m too busy to prepare breakfast, healthy or otherwise!” I knew you would say that—how about trying out some quick and healthy breakfast recipes—oat smoothie, avocado toast with bread, overnight oats, veggie omelette and overnight quinoa.

5. Spending a few minutes reading

Reading a few lines of a book each day is a good way to sharpen the brain, learn something new and get you renewed energy for the day. Some successful women read spiritual literature, like the Bible—they believe it sets a positive tone, gives them clarity and empowers them for the new day.

6. Setting priorities

Successful women set specific priorities as pertaining to family and work, and discipline themselves to remain focused throughout the day, in order to accomplish those priorities.

7. Simple exercises or yoga poses:

Either yoga or exercising in the morning is a natural energy booster. It promotes focus and contributes to overall well-being.

Staying committed to a morning routine takes discipline and focus, but whatever morning routines you stick to, don’t let the process become a drag that you have to drag yourself through to do. In order to get the full benefits of a morning routine, it should be fun, and something to look forward to.
