When you decide to declutter for a new season it is because you want to feel refreshed and renew your energy. It is more than trying to clear out dust or get rid of old items in the house.  It relieves you, makes you feel free, and puts things in a better perspective for you.Clearing out your space to elevate and make it come alive can seem a bit stressful. However, you need to look at it as a process that will boost your efficiency and rid you of things that you don’t actually need.  
Why should you declutter your space:
  • To make your space clean to live in.
  • Helps free your house from insects, and cobwebs.
  • Makes you clear-headed.
  • Provide you the opportunity to give out things that you do not need.

Here are 4 major Signs You Need to Declutter Your Space for the New Year:

  1. You’ve been having allergies: You may have been sneezing or coughing for a while, having a runny nose, and just feeling clogged up not knowing that there is accumulated dust in some areas of the house. Checking places like the back of the chairs, wardrobe top,  and the window net. These areas cause dust to come into the house easily, so getting a cleanse done and clearing things up might be all you need to breathe in fresh air and manage your dust allergies.                                                 
  2. You find it difficult to be productive: When you’re in an area where there are lots of items, it causes you to be less focused sometimes as everything seems all over the place and you find it hard to focus. You constantly feel like something is in your way. You want to grab something from the fridge but the drink you bought 2 months ago is right there staring at you, you want to pick something from your purse and it just feels full with items you don’t use regularly – or you want to pick up your dress and you have to go through a pile when you only recycle just 6 dresses.  Your parlor looks like a place for keeping things when you don’t even use most of the things that are there. Feeling like this shows it’s time to let go of some things and clear up your space to give room for effectiveness.                                                                                                                      
  3. You feel overwhelmed: Most times when we feel overwhelmed, it is usually attached to our mind and emotions. However, our environment and the space we live in can also be a culprit and part of what we should be mindful of. When your space is not organized, and you start feeling stressed and anxious easily, and it starts to affect your work and the other things you need to get done, you just know the time to declutter.                    
  4. You need space: There are times when you feel like your house is more full than it should be, and everything is all over the place. There’s a lot of things in the house but you still feel like there is nothing and everywhere seems so occupied with unnecessary furniture/gadgets that you’re not using. You feel the need to declutter some items to get the space you want and clear out unnecessary gadgets and furniture that take up space in your home. 
 

Conclusion

When you have clothes that you’ve not worn in a while, appliances that you’ve never used, items on your kitchen counter has never been touched, you’ve not moved your chairs in a while, Your books haven’t been touched for years now, and you feel overwhelmed or you’re starting to get a bit sick from the stuffiness, and feeling overwhelmed, you realize that you need to declutter and decide things to declutter for you to have a clear head, free space, and live healthy in general.
