Three Female Nigerians with International PositionsWomen, African and beyond, are excelling in different areas of the society. From politics to music and modelling among other aspects, a lot of women have been making waves over the world. Nigerian women are not exempted.With this, Nigerians have made a name for themselves far and beyond its borders. Here are three female Nigerians who are making waves in the international scene.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was born in Ogwashi Ukwu, Nigeria in 1954. She is an economist and a global development expert. On February 15, 2021, she became the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation.Ngozi’s historic appointment is another notch in what has been an illustrious career for the accomplished economist. Her appointment to head the international organisation associated with the rules of trade between nations is her biggest role yet, but not her first dance in the international scene.

Amina Mohammed

Amina Mohammed resigned from her role as Nigeria’s Minister of Environment to become the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) in 2017. She still holds the position.She has previously coordinated the Task Force on Gender and Education for the UN Millennium Project, and has served on numerous international advisory boards and panels, including as a member of the board of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders.Also, Amina Mohammed has played an important role in the Post 2015 Development Agenda Process where she served as the Special Advisor to Ban Ki-moon, the then UN Secretary General.

Esther Agbaje

In Esther Agbaje’s words, “As a negotiator, as a lawyer, and as a former program manager, I know how to advocate for the district and find common ground with other legislators in St. Paul. As a millennial, a generation that has suffered numerous setbacks, I will bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to government.”Esther Agbaje born on March 19, 1985 is an attorney and member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. She is a member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labour Party and she represents District 59B.Also, she graduated from George Washington University, D.C with a degree in Political Science.
