
Tips for Great Job Interview

- Research the company. This is the first step to a great job interview because understanding key information about the company will help you go to the interview with confidence. You can check through the company’s website, social media posts and press releases to understand the company’s goals and how you’d be a great fit for the company.
- Practice the common answer to interview question. If you are asked, “tell me about yourself and why you are interested in this post? The idea is to communicate who you are and what value you’d add to the company.
- Try to reread the job description. You should do this to know the specific skills the employer is looking for. Your past and current work that align with the requirement will be a great one for you.
- Plan your interview attire the night before. It is advisable to dress formally for an interview. Since you’ve searched for the company, you can have an idea of what the company expects you to wear. Sometimes, some company gives dress code for their interview.
- Prepare copies of your resume. You can take at least four to five copies of your printed resume in cases of multiple interviewers. Make sure you highlight specific accomplishment on your copy that you can refer to and discuss. Also, don’t forget your pen and a small note book.
- Make sure you arrive at the venue early. You need to plan yourself to arrive on time. When you arrive early, you’d be able to observe workplace dynamics. Also, try to make a great first impression and be respectful.
- Be genuine during interview. You need to win your interviewer with your positivity. Respond truthfully to questions asked because interviewers find honesty respectable. Also, focus on your key strength.
